The Quixotic & Galileo-Free Fall (feat. Shantha)

It is a great time to be following the underground hip-hop scene in the Asian subcontinent. If you ask “Why ?”, This song is your answer. Quixotic drops the absolute bomb, as he collaborates with Galileo and Shantha. The track is called “Free Fall”

The track has been produced (Composed) by Delhi based composer Galileo, and features vocals on the hook by Shantha. The track has an ambient vibe to it, mellow and smooth, yet so intense. The track has a sound unheard of in the underground as well as mainstream to a great extent. On further projects, The Quixotic & Galileo intent to explore this sub-genre of ‘Ambient Hip Hop’ as they like to call it.

The track tells a deeply metaphorical story, the interpretation of which is left to the listener. Here is what Quix had to say when we asked him about the story behind the track:

I wrote this song a long time ago, minus the spoken word at the end. It’s a very visual metaphor for struggling with your demons, I’m not sure how many people got that.

Mayank (Galileo) and I did this this in 3 hours or so, right before my flight from Delhi to Bombay.

This guy’s a musical genius. Adept at tons of instruments. This is a new sub genre we’re trying to explore, we like to call it Ambient Hip Hop. We’ll be working on a larger project like this one very soon.

In the song, the first verse is the guy contemplating jumping off a rooftop. Whether it is a real one or metaphorical is up to the listener to decide. The second verse is about the flight down. The female voice is the voice inside the protagonist’s  head, which later takes over.

Shantha has worked with Galileo in a separate Jazz project called High (which is extremely dope, by the way). I’ve written her lyrics here, she executed them beyond perfection.

The track is available for FREE DOWNLOAD on Quixotic’s soundcloud

Calling You Out – (Audio) | Dee MC | The N

For the 3rd consecutive year, Dee MC has dropped a track on October 30th, her first two tracks being “Talk My Way” (2013) prod. by Kru172 and Greenhouse Effect(2014) Prod. by Afzal Minhaaj

The track is called “Calling You Out”, and has been produced by The N.  It is a soulful feel good track talking about the mind state of a person who is heartbroken. But unlike being just about a heartbreak, the track sees the person talking to their inner self about how they have changed because of whatever happened in the past. So in the end, the person urges his inner self to let go the past, cause he/she is being Called Out.

HAPPIE LIFE – OLvin & Hardy | Prod. By OLvin

HAPPIE LIFE – OLvin & Hardy

Hip-Hop duo Olvin and Hardy drop their new single “Happie Life”

The beat is produced by Olvin, who also drops a sick hindi verse, while Hardy compliments with a punjabi rap. They talk about the time when things were not working out for them and then they decided to do everything on their own, and eventually got good results. Here’s what they had to say when we asked them about the track:

“Well, there was a time when we were really working hard and recorded few tracks but we were not getting the output as every time we were given false hope that our work will be done till next week. After that we decided to do everything own our own and hence got really good results. Therefore, we got the thought of writing some lyrics of good days and not depending on others i.e Happie Life. “Toota bharam mera khada hun khud k pairon pe, Chorr dia hai aas rakhna maine gairon pe”
Or when Hardy says “HARDY Pairaan Utte Apne Hun Hogya Khada, Ve Mai Rava Befikar Mainu Koi Ni Parvaah”

Hold On, To Love – The N and The Quixotic

Hold On, To Love – The N  x  The Quixotic

The fall of Sunday witnessed a drop from a rather unexpected duo dubbed ‘The Lab’ but interestingly seems that The N and The Quixotic thought to keep it a single collaborative venture into a new soundscape arguably never heard of in at least the Indian rap scenario. The song basically has a highly pimped beat of the track ‘Vistas’ by Tree Ess. Though Hold On, To Love sounds nothing like we have had before.  It’s certainly encouraging to see how The N really is bringing new stuff hidden inside his mind (and maybe his workstation). The track not only has The N spitting after a gap from Prologue, his may release but also brings The Quixotic back from his classic drop Ain’t The End. When asked about the process, N spoke out that the track has taken nowhere beyond 18 hours including everything to be what it is as we listen! Pardon me but this makes me real hyped up for what N’s third EP ‘Amora’ has in store for us.

The track features a somewhat electronic and dusty hook performed by The Quixotic as well as a bar in unbelievably accurate female voice by The N. The lyrics are on point, the beat is unfathomably a break-off from the regular and also, the whistle element at end gives a sweet packaging to the whole feel of the song. All in all, we are eager to check the true potential of this beautifully monstrous duo!

Bangaal – Changes

Bangaal – Changes

You might know him from the feature on the massive “Jawaab Ni Saada” DRS Jam Sessions episode. Bangaal, who has been out of limelight for some time now, has recently released a track titled “Changes”

Bangaal plays some extra synths over a Mac Miller beat, raps to it. He talks about the transformation that he has been going through as a person, and how he has grown as an artist and as a person over the years.

Here is what Bangaal told DRS about his new track “Changes”:

Well, This song means alot to me. As the name itself says ‘changes’, Things in my life have changed inside out. I no more feel emptiness and darkness, it’s like I’ve got someone in my life for whom my mind and heart both were desperate to meet!

A boy turning into a man,A kid growing up and becoming responsible, A man starting to value his time and money!

And all of this has happened just because of her.

I think, even the people who don’t understand my language would get the same vibe as I get when I listen to this song!

The Quixotic-Ain’t The End

The Quixotic, veteran artist, battle rapper and co-founder of Underground Music League released his new single Ain’t The End on 4th April, 2015.  Artwork by Antorip Works and produced by Sez Productions, the song was scheduled for release last year but ran into some difficulties.
“The vibe of this song is laid back and introspective. It was recorded right before I moved to Mumbai from New Delhi and attempts to capture the mind state of someone transitioning into a new phase of life with equal parts excitement, anticipation and determination” says The Quixotic, who since moving has formed a duo The Lab with Thane Producer-Rapper Nasir (The N), and been a part of B3, India’s Official Rap Battle League since its beginning.
The song crossed over 1000 plays in its first 24 hours and received rave reviews from fans and artists alike. “The Quixotic has proven yet again why he is one of the most versatile rappers from the region.” said Hassan Dozakhi, of internationally acclaimed Multinational Corporations.
The Lab is currently working on its Mixtape “Miles To Go”, the release date for which is yet to be finalized.  We also hear that The N will be deviating musical styles in the tape.

fft-art1

FFT, a new song over the instrumental of Drake’s popular song ‘0 – 100/The Catch Up,’ is the latest in the line of singles being shared by Mumbai rap artist Enkore in the build up to his album that’s scheduled to arrive soon.

Malaysian award winning artist Sona One said the new song was “Fire.” Eternal Shine and FFT are not going to be part of the upcoming album, which the MC said he might charge for.

Frappe Ash – Young & Free (Prod. by Sez)

Frappe Ash drops his new single “Young And Free” from his upcoming mixtape  MISFIT. The track has been produced by Delhi based producer SEZ.  It features vocals by Christina.

Here is what Frappe Ash told us about his new joint when we spoke to him:

“this song was started as a project between me and sez around december 2013. i recorded my vox in the summers of 2014. i got busy with my college admissions so couldnt work on my music for sometime. i was making music all the time but wasnt getting enough time to release/ publish it.

later i met with CHRISTINA. she’s a classmate of mine in my college and carries an amazing voice.
thanks a lot to sez for providing me with just the right type of beat and to christina for lending me her vocals.
So finally after going through a lot of transition in my lifestyle to my music as i had to shift places and work in a completely new place with a fresh mindset, i have finally decided to release all my music that i made all this while in a mixtape called MISFIT.
“MISFIT” has a lot of catching sounds. the mixtape is filled with classic samples, trap beats, clever and fancy lyricism yet deep at the same time and is scheduled to be released around the summers of 2015.”

Enkore & Poetik Justis – Eternal Shine

Enkore & Poetik Justis - Eternal Shine

But, in the build up to a year that’s lining up to be pretty exciting for Indian hip hop – Eternal Shine gets to reach Enkore and Poetik’s fans’ ears. With Enkore talking about a new EP all over his Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, we get this new release.

A free download, this soulful cut produced by The 6th Element is definitely one for fans of boom bap, jazzy hip hop with lyrical intricacy! Enkore has “a couple of more joints” ready to be unleashed before the album is ready. These singles are sure to be free downloads but he “might charge for the album. I’m still figuring that out.”
